The Silvis Family Fun Run was the kick off to start the day of events for the Silvis Festival and Moonlight Parade.  I have worked for Silvis Park Department for 14 years the first eleven years I can remember setting up for the Silvis Family Run.  It was my favorite time of year and I looked forward to the race.   The race did not take place in 2012 because we did not have a race official to keep track of race results and timing.

In April 2013 I met with the Race committee to see if we could get it back up but it was too late in the year to start planning and we would not have time to bring everything together.   For the whole summer of 2013 I attended many races I met some very cool people and I learned a great deal about races.  I also asked people what we could do to make the race better and I  got a good list of ideas.

October 2013 I talked to the previous race director Fire Cheif Dave Liebovitz and asked if he would mind if I could try to get the race back up I had informed him that I had a new race official that was willing to help me get the race back again.  We agreed that I would be race director.  This will be 32 years since the UT Junior Panthers & Country Music Fest started the Silvis Family Run and I am looking forward to make it a top notch race again.
